Much as Harald has said, just because WoAI is closing up shop doesn't mean you can't achieve the same result, albeit with a bit of extra work. The models are still available, the paints are still available, the flightplans are available, and the tools to put it all together are still there. It's the convenience that's going to be missing, is all. There's a lot more to AI than just the big iron anyways - WoAI doesn't really address the GA side of things as well as what you can do yourself, and once you start doing it yourself, you find it's really satisfying to have that level of control over it.Of course, if any of it was quick and easy, there would be no payware! Jim,Unless things have changed, in their closing announcement on their website the developers say all files will be removed from AVSIM and flightsim.com.rbirtel,I would go to WoAI, download all the airline and GA files you want to have, download their installer tool, then install those airline packages onto your sim.
The nice thing about doing that is the WoAI installer will install all the aircraft models and textures in a matter of seconds. If you ever want up to update flight plans for ult AI, you can download those from the AVSIM library then use the aircraft textures downloaded from WoAI. I also recommend downloading the AI Flight Planner 2 utility, which let's you modify flight plans, add textures to your aircraft.txt file, etc. It's like TTools on steroids. Then, just update your AI flight plans airline by airline. For the most part, most people don't really pay attention to whether the AI aircraft are flying current schedules or not. So, if you want to keep it simple just use the original WoAI and don't change anything.Todd.
Hi,I'd prefer to build my own AI traffic from available flightplans (AIG, United Traffic Team.) and repaints. Although not as sophisticated as WoAI, I think that is quite the same WoAI did. Of course you need a certain amount of time to build up your traffic but it has the advantage that you can keep your system in naming files, folder structures, internal structures of aircraft.cfg and TTools source files. And so on.HaraldI prefer this too. It's slightly more time consuming but it's definitely more rewarding when you see your work come to 'life' in the simulator. I agree with the previous comments about building your own AI traffic system using the excellent AIG flight schedules etc, BUT I alert you to the fact that if you are using FSX with the DX10 preview activated, then many of the older WoAI aircraft models will appear pure white at your airports.DX10, of course requiring a compatible video card, provides greatly improved visuals and is the way of the future for FSX, but it does introduce new issues about which you can google on the Net.One of which is aircraft textures where in many cases the texture has to be changed from DXT3 to DXT1. Most of theAI FruitStand aircraft are compatible, but many of the AIA are not.
The plus side of this change is far less memory impact on your system which means improved framerates and operation at large airports. The effort to build your own system is repaid in spades by having total control on flightplans and updating aircraft to the best models available. It turns out that aerosoft sent me my traffic 2013 even though I ordered 2010. It came with my traffic 2006 for fs9. On the ground things look great, but all aircraft start out at the gate and it takes about 10 minutes, depending on the airport, for the traffic to really get moving. Anybody have any Ideas?Another thing I noticed is that the program copied almost all the aircraft into my regular airplanes as well enabling me to fly them.
They are not the best quality and the guages so far seem to be the stock 737, but it's nifty nonetheless. BTW I'm running windows 8 pro. Another thing I noticed is that the program copied almost all the aircraft into my regular airplanes as well enabling me to fly them.

There is a flag within the.air file that tells MSFS whether the aircraft is flyable, or whether it's meant purely for AI use. Depending on which AI aircraft you install, sometimes this flag is set to flyable, so then it will show in your selection list. However, often the flight models on AI aircraft are not meant to be realistic or even flown. For example, AI often have a far shorter landing roll than what's realistic, in order for them to clear the runway quickly. Also, if your AI program has installed aircraft which show in your selection menu and you don't want to see them there, there are a few different programs that I know of that are able to edit that flag, so that they don't show up.If you're having fun with it though, that's cool too! It bugs me to see them in the selection menu though, so I always edit them.
HiActually World of AI is not particularly onerous to install - it comes with an installer and, although you have to download and install each airline individually, you don't have to install individual aircraft or flight plans, as these are all included with the airline package. In addition to a very extensive variety of airlines there are also a considerable number of bizjet and general aviation AI packages for WOAI. As well as the advantage that it is free, it is arguably one of the best quality AI programs available (I have used both Ultimate Traffic and My Traffic at different times but uninstalled them and now use WOAI alone). The only downside if you are obsessional about reality and being up to date is that there have been very few updates appearing for WOAI recently although their website is still active.
If however you just want your airports / airfields populated with lots of good quality active AI and are not too worried that the schedule exactly mirrors that of 2012, it is perfect. Give it a try, it's free!Hope this helps,Bill.
Don't forget 'MY Traffic 2006', was pay, now free. Not supported and perhaps airlines depicted maybe dated (dont know),but I use it,and as as an added bonus it is particularly framerate friendly (if your PC is perhaps senior citizen,as mine is or maybe not a quad core super smogulous thingy as mine ain't) then 2006 is very good. Also comes with AI from different decades if you want to fly models from the sixties, seventies etc etc till present.Recommend it.No faffingeasy to install.AndyPS I assume it is still available.
Agree one hundred percent regarding WOAI, I have been using it for many years and have all the packages installed including the GA aircraft. I am always updating and installing new packages when they are released and it is very easy to do, takes seconds in fact.I also install a lot of packages from Military AI Works to add extra reality, not that I am a big fan of military aircraft but I think having these installed as well makes it just that little bit better! Again, very easy to install and you get the bonus of additional airport sceneries which is always a good thing!
